A workspace that stays
Persistent computers with memory-keeping pause, snapshots and private images made from a stopped computer.
Dory · Agent Computers by ComputeEngines
Pause keeps every window and process. SSH, Docker, a browser desktop, a computer-use API and a Playwright endpoint.
Per-second billing, capped each month. Pay with Bitcoin, no card. Hosted in New Jersey on hardware we run ourselves.
Beta: invite-only, paid. Not open yet.
01What you get
Create computers from the API, the CLI or the console.
A computer is ready when the API reports ready: true.
Persistent computers with memory-keeping pause, snapshots and private images made from a stopped computer.
SSH, Docker and Compose, commands, files and an interactive terminal.
A browser desktop, a computer-use API for actions and screenshots, and a Chromium Playwright endpoint over CDP.
Python and TypeScript SDKs, the cec CLI, and hosted or local MCP.
Private HTTPS previews for your app's ports, revocable share links, and hooks for incoming webhooks.
No built-in agent or AI-key proxy. Bring your own model keys.
How agents drive it
A person and an agent can share one machine. Every interface calls the same HTTPS API.
Python (sync and async) and TypeScript. They exchange your API key for short-lived access tokens and wait for readiness.
from computeengines import Client
with Client() as client:
c = client.computers.create(size="ac-2")
print(c.exec("uname -sr").stdout)
c.pause() # memory kept
c.resume()Every customer-facing API operation has a cec command with --json output.
cec create --size ac-2 --name work
cec exec ID -- python3 -V
cec desktop ID --view
cec pause IDA hosted MCP server (about 36 tools, limited by the key's scopes) or cec mcp locally.
claude mcp add --transport http dory \
https://api.agents.computeengines.com/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $CE_API_KEY"Screenshots and input actions in display pixels, adapters for Claude and OpenAI computer use, and a CDP endpoint for Playwright or Puppeteer. A person can take exclusive control of the desktop; the agent sees human_in_control and waits.
02Sizes & planned prices
Prices are planned and may change. They are for Bitcoin credit; there is no card price.
The cap covers compute, always-on charges, and the computer's own disk and saved memory.
Account tiers unlock sizes and limits: new accounts start at Tier 0, which can top up but cannot create computers; see how to reach Tier 1 and Tier 2.

You can resize CPU and RAM while stopped, but your disk capacity stays the same. Your monthly cap follows the largest size you held that UTC calendar month. A higher cap starts when your resize finishes; we do not charge again for earlier time or reset your month's usage.
Outside the cap: snapshot and private-image storage over 10 GB per account costs $0.05/GB-month; outbound traffic over 100 GB per account per month costs $0.02/GB.
Billing
Prepaid USD credit, paid with on-chain Bitcoin. Agents get a payment link; a human pays.
On-demand bills running seconds, including boot time. Stopped or paused disk and saved memory cost $0.05/GB-month of stored size, inside the cap.
Always-on spreads your cap over 730 billable hours, never above the cap in a UTC calendar month. It holds capacity for you unless your credit has run out for 7 days.
Checkout runs on our Bitcoin checkout. No card or PayPal at launch.
$20 minimum; at most $250 per top-up in your account's first 30 days, then $1,000. Your credit plus unpaid invoices can total at most $2,000. One open invoice per account.
Warnings arrive at about 72 and 24 hours of credit remaining. At zero available credit, running computers pause with memory kept and all charges pause.
Your top-up must leave a positive balance after debts and usage to recover your files; nothing restarts by itself. We hold your always-on slot for 7 days. After that, restarting needs free capacity; charges for that computer stay paused until you reclaim a slot or switch to on-demand.
Refunds of unused credit are planned; terms will be published before the beta. Promo credit is not refundable.
03Honest limits
All computers run in one location in New Jersey. If it or its network is down, every computer is down.
There is no service-level agreement. We make no availability promise. We hold no audit certification. No trial: you pay before you use.
Capacity is shared and may occasionally be limited; limits we apply to protect the platform are never billed.
Planned maintenance is on Saturdays (US Eastern). After a restart, eligible reserved always-on computers start again; running on-demand computers come back stopped, and paused computers keep memory.
Each computer is a virtual machine based on Debian 13. ComputeEngines is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Debian Project.
No Windows or macOS desktops, GPU, nested virtualization, live-memory fork or templates with programs already running. Chromium ships, not Google Chrome.
The create target is p95 at or below 120 seconds.
On-demand pauses 1 hour after starting by default; from Tier 1 you can choose a longer timer or no timer. Resuming may fail when capacity is in use.
After 30 days paused, saved memory is discarded with 7 days' notice, unless a legal hold requires preserving it. Disk size as stored only grows; deleting files does not lower it.
Snapshots and private images are not backups: they are stored alongside the computers. Keep your own copies of anything that matters.
Customer-deleted computers are purged after 24 hours. At zero balance, deletion is possible from day 14, with 7 more recoverable days before permanent deletion. Pending payments, review, billing checks, payment-system failures or legal holds delay deletion. During the beta, deletion needs a manual confirmation.
We cannot delete data under a legal hold. A refused deletion request does not change your billing state. You can still stop or pause a computer when its state allows it.
Changing or stopping our agent inside the computer breaks the data API, not SSH or billing.
No inbound connections except HTTPS previews, hooks and SSH through our gateway; no raw public TCP or UDP ports. Outbound mail ports 25, 465, 587 and 2525 are blocked in every mode, without launch exceptions. No IPv6.
Outbound IPv4 is shared by accounts in the same tier and changes with the tier. Bandwidth is limited per computer and per account.
Do not trust cookies set for the parent preview domain in your app.
Tier 1: up to 2 running computers, 10 kept. Tier 2: up to 6 running, 30 kept. Creating, starting or resizing a computer can be refused when capacity is full or you reach a rate limit.
One screen in four fixed sizes; the noVNC viewer is for watching and helping, not video. Python and TypeScript SDKs only. Outgoing webhooks, recording and signed large-file URLs are not available at launch.
Hosted MCP needs a client that sends an Authorization header; claude.ai and ChatGPT connectors need OAuth, which is not available yet. Use cec mcp locally instead.
Business and developer use only; country availability will be confirmed before the beta opens, and sanctioned countries are blocked. Support is by email from a small team, with no response-time commitment; abuse reports come first.
FAQ
No. Dory is in development and the invite-only beta has not opened. You cannot create an account yet, but you can request beta access (or email us) and we will contact you when it opens. Prices and limits here are planned and may change. See the status page.
A persistent Linux virtual machine (Debian 13) with a desktop, SSH, Docker and Chromium. You have root. You create it from an API, a CLI, an MCP client or a console, and it stays until you delete it.
No. Bring your own agent and model keys. Dory has no built-in agent and holds no model keys; your keys stay on your side.
Pause writes memory to disk, so every window and process is still there on resume. Stop keeps the disk and discards memory. A paused computer is not billed for compute; its stored disk and memory are billed inside the monthly cap.
You prepay USD credit with on-chain Bitcoin. Computers are billed per second while running, and each computer's monthly charge stops at a cap that covers compute plus its own disk and saved memory. There is no card price and no free trial.
Launch supports on-chain Bitcoin through our Bitcoin checkout. Card and PayPal are not offered at launch. An agent can create a payment link, but a person pays it.
You get warnings at about 72 and 24 hours of credit remaining. At zero, running computers are paused with memory kept and charges pause. Your files are kept while a retention timeline runs (deletion is possible from day 14 and only after notices were accepted by your mail server). See what happens at low balance.
Docker, Compose and Chromium are included. There is no GPU, no nested virtualization and no Windows or macOS.
On hardware we operate in New Jersey, in a single location. There is no service-level agreement and no availability promise; if the location is down, every computer is down. See honest limits.

Quickstart
From a funded account, create an ac-2, run a command, open its desktop and a preview, then pause, resume and delete it.
The walkthrough covers curl, Python, TypeScript and the cec CLI.
ready: true
Wait for readiness before sending work.
Pause keeps memory. Delete when you no longer need the computer.
